About the position

The position involves performing a variety of laboratory examinations and tests, including specialized or experimental procedures, to ensure rapid and accurate results in the Blood Bank Labs of the Navicent Health system. The role provides technical expertise and consultation, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and maintaining the technical competency of Blood Bank employees.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory examinations and tests, including specialized or experimental procedures.
• Provide technical expertise and consultation to all Blood Bank Labs in the Navicent Health system.
• Conduct immunohematology testing and compatibility testing for blood product administration.
• Manage volume reduction and irradiation of appropriate blood products.
• Oversee the storage, dispensing, and tracking of tissue products.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards from FDA, AABB, DNV, DCH, and CAP.
• Assure technical competency of Navicent Blood Bank employees.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 quarter hours in chemical, physical, and/or biological sciences.
• At least 15 quarter hours of chemistry, 10 quarter hours of biology, and 5 quarter hours of math.
• Master's Degree/SBB (Specialist Blood Bank) required.
• Minimum of 5 years of Blood Bank experience required.
• Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLS, CLT, CLS) by the Board of Registry as ASCP or AMT.
