About the position

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of program providing case management and in-home services to older persons and their caregivers in a 12-county region.
  • Ensure adequate coverage and quality customer service.
  • Approve travel, timesheets, and leave.
  • Monitor funding availability for services such as residential repairs, in home health, and emergency response.
  • Manage the learning and development plan of 8 or more direct reports.
  • Support hiring and onboarding of vacant positions as needed.
  • Meet with staff regularly to review performance on goals and provide coaching.
  • Connect staff to appropriate training and resources.
  • Maintain regular communication with team and facilitate team meetings.
  • Conduct annual evaluations and career development plans.
  • Participate in and champion continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Implement changes in service delivery models as improvements are made.
  • Conduct customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Monitor quality of staff work.
  • Support the team in resolving client/contractor complaints and issues.
  • Support the completion of regular programmatic reports including Area Agency on Aging Quarterly Performance Report and Aging and Disability Advisory Committee Reports.
  • Provide case management service to clients.
  • Conduct program outreach and foster relationships with community partners in assigned county territory.
  • Deliver developed presentations.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledge of aging service systems
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to effectively manage a team
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
  • 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties.
