About The Position

The Lead Software Engineer at Altana AI will be responsible for developing and deploying services, designing technology solutions, mentoring team members, and driving technical decision-making. This role involves analyzing product requirements, collaborating on system architecture, and maintaining high-quality code standards to support the company's mission of enhancing global value chains through artificial intelligence.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience writing back end or data-driven software in demanding environments.
  • Experience deploying production code and services to cloud-hosted environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering incremental releases from proof-of-concept to MVP to production.
  • Self-starter with experience working on large, complex problems.
  • Strong commitment to engineering excellence, clean code, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading other engineers on complex projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python Machine Learning toolsets (Numpy, Pandas, Dedupe).
  • Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

  • Ingest product requirements and define technical requirements.
  • Design practical, iterative technology designs that achieve product and technical goals.
  • Work with the product manager to develop implementation plans against technical product roadmaps.
  • Maintain, develop, and deploy services supporting the overall architecture.
  • Analyze and propose technical solutions to enhance product offerings.
  • Automate, test, and deploy your own and your team's work.
  • Review code and technical designs authored by team members, ensuring high quality.
  • Mentor developers and help them improve their skills.
  • Oversee the day-to-day work of a team of engineers, ensuring progress along the defined roadmap.
  • Drive technical decision-making and problem-solving across the team.
