About the position

The Leasing Agent at Vasona Management is responsible for showing and leasing apartments to prospective residents while completing associated administrative functions. This role involves interviewing prospective residents to ascertain their needs and qualifications, inputting information into the computer system, and accompanying prospects to model apartments. The Leasing Agent discusses the size and layout of rooms, available facilities such as swimming pools and saunas, and the location of shopping centers and freeways. They also explain the services available and the terms of the lease. In addition to qualifying prospective residents by verifying applications and lease documents, the Leasing Agent completes lease forms or agreements and collects rental deposits and application fees. They introduce residents to apartment and property procedures, promoting positive resident relations to ensure a high-quality living experience. The Leasing Agent is also responsible for recording accurate data on prospective and new residents as required by the Marketing Department, inspecting the condition of premises periodically, and arranging for necessary maintenance. The position requires maintaining regular, predictable, and punctual attendance, following directions from supervisors, and interacting well with others. The Leasing Agent must understand and follow posted work rules and procedures, meet standards of conduct and behavior, accept constructive criticism, and handle stress effectively. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment for residents and ensuring that their needs are met throughout their leasing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interview prospective residents and record information to ascertain needs and qualifications.
  • Input information into the computer system.
  • Accompany prospects to model apartments and discuss size and layout of rooms, available facilities, and location of shopping centers and freeways.
  • Qualify prospective residents by verifying applications and lease documents.
  • Complete lease forms or agreements and collect rental deposits and application fees.
  • Introduce residents to apartment/property procedures.
  • Promote positive resident relations to enhance the living experience.
  • Record accurate data on prospective and new residents as required by the Marketing Department.
  • Inspect the condition of premises periodically and arrange for necessary maintenance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of property and apartments.
  • Compile listings of available rental property.
  • Attend training classes as scheduled.
  • Report hazardous working conditions to supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in property management or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
