About the position

David Jane and Associates is a fast-growing Workers' Defense Compensation law firm seeking an experienced Full-Time Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home while contributing to our mission of providing exceptional legal support in the field of Workers' Compensation. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a team player, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Workers' Compensation legal office. You will be responsible for managing cases from inception to completion, ensuring that all necessary documentation is filed and served in a timely manner, and maintaining communication with clients, defense firms, carriers, primary doctors, and the Department of Workers' Compensation (DWC). In this role, you will utilize your advanced computer skills, particularly in MS Office and Adobe, to draft and organize position letters, review and respond to correspondence, and coordinate with medical professionals for evaluations and hearings. Your ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively will be crucial as you handle various responsibilities, including the rating of cases and preparing files for hearings and trials. We are looking for someone who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, as these will be essential in your interactions with clients and other stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Work cases from inception to completion.
  • Open, file and amend applications.
  • Full working knowledge of EAMS filings.
  • File and serve documents.
  • Maintain contact with client, defense firm, carrier, primary doctor and DWC.
  • Review, draft and respond to correspondence.
  • Review and evaluations of client files.
  • Doctor, AME and Panel QME coordination.
  • Rating of cases.
  • Prepare files for hearing and trials.
  • Drafting and organization of position letters.
  • Miscellaneous responsibilities such as intake and reception.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Workers' Compensation legal office experience.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office and Adobe.
  • Experience with MerusCase is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task with excellent time management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (2 years preferred).
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat (2 years preferred).
