About the position

Beacon Hill Legal is seeking a Legal Assistant/Word Processor for a contract-to-hire position with a reputable law firm in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting Commercial Real Estate attorneys and/or prior experience as a Word Processor in a law firm setting. This role is crucial in assisting with various tasks related to commercial real estate transactions and ensuring that all documentation is prepared accurately and efficiently. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of final closing binders and conducting due diligence reviews as part of the real estate closing process. This includes preparing necessary forms, setting up and maintaining databases and files, and managing correspondence. The candidate will also be tasked with proofreading and editing legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards. In addition to document management, the Legal Assistant will handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring timely receipt and dispatch, which may involve engaging special delivery services. The role also requires opening new files, requesting conflict of interest checks, and maintaining both online and hard copy files. The candidate will be responsible for storing older files and preparing files for closure. Furthermore, the Legal Assistant will coordinate billing, proof billing sheets, and review and edit bills as necessary. Making appointments and assisting with travel arrangements for attorneys will also be part of the responsibilities. Applicants must be comfortable commuting to Washington, DC, and should possess strong typing skills, with a requirement to score 60 WPM or above on a typing assessment. Responsibilities

Requirements
