About the position

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our National Law Firm as a Legal Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, editing, and proofreading a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, agreements, and pleadings. You will manage complex document production, draft simple pleadings and correspondence, and handle court filings, including both traditional and electronic filings. A significant part of your responsibilities will involve preparing documents for mandatory e-filing for State and Federal courts, creating accurate Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities, and e-filing in Federal courts and the Court of Appeals. In addition to document preparation, you will assist in finalizing discovery, coordinating depositions, mediation dates, and trial preparations. You will also play a crucial role in maintaining calendars, tracking deadlines, and performing various administrative tasks to support the firm and its operations. This position requires a proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. To succeed in this role, you should possess proficiency in office software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PDF. A working knowledge of legal practices, terminology, documents, and court procedures is essential. You will need effective communication and interaction skills within a professional environment, along with an adaptable, solution-oriented approach to work under pressure. Strong typing, spelling, grammar, proofreading, transcription, and general clerical skills are also required. Additionally, you should be competent in operating standard office equipment, including personal computers, copiers, multi-function printers, fax machines, and telephones.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, editing, and proofreading a variety of legal documents including correspondence, agreements, and pleadings.

Requirements
