About the position

The Department of Human Services at Warren State Hospital is actively seeking dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our team. This role is crucial in providing direct nursing care and treatment services to individuals with serious mental illnesses. As an LPN, you will be responsible for recording and reporting vital signs, symptoms, and responses to medications and treatments. You will also ensure compliance with medication administration policies and assist in the completion of physician's orders. Your duties will include helping patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), skin care, room care, mealtimes, and other essential nursing care techniques. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the mental health and quality of life of our patients during their recovery journey. In this full-time role, you will work 80 hours biweekly on the 2nd shift, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. The schedule may vary based on operational needs, and you will be expected to work weekends and holidays as part of a rotating schedule. Overtime may be required as needed. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care and treatment services to patients.
  • Record and report vital signs, symptoms, and responses to medications and treatments.
  • Comply with medication administration policies and complete physician's orders.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Perform skin care, room care, and assist during mealtimes.
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated team to improve patients' mental health and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • Possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license at the time of appointment.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions as required by the position.
  • Completion of a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a mental health setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
