Life Enrichment Coordinator / Recreational Assistant

About the position

The Life Enrichment Coordinator / Recreational Assistant is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for residents in long-term care settings, such as assisted living and nursing homes. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing engaging programs that promote social interaction, physical activity, and emotional well-being among seniors, particularly those with dementia and other age-related challenges. The ideal candidate will have a background in caregiving, recreational therapy, or social work, and a passion for enriching the lives of seniors.

Responsibilities

• Assist with shuttling residents from location to location in the facility.
• Manage recreational programs (e.g. bingo, poker, dice).
• Lead group exercises and assist volunteers in person-centered care.

Requirements

• No experience needed; training provided.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in caregiving or senior care settings is essential; experience in long-term care or assisted living is preferred.
• Background in recreational therapy, social work, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset.
• Proven ability to plan events that cater to diverse interests within the senior population.
