About the position
The Life Enrichment Volunteer position at The Heritage at Shalimar Gardens involves engaging with residents to enhance their quality of life through various activities and support tasks. Volunteers will assist with administrative duties, provide companionship, and participate in recreational activities, all aimed at enriching the lives of residents in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver supplies and groceries to residents.
- Write letters or cards, prepare mailings, and notarize documents.
- Assist residents with letter writing and technology use (emails/Facebook).
- Make phone calls to patients, family, and friends.
- Sing and play music, sew blankets, and create memory or history documents.
- Visit patients in person and spend quality time with them.
- Help with fundraising and marketing activities.
- Play cards or board games, read residents' mail, or enjoy a book or magazine together.
- Assist in pushing wheelchairs or accompany residents on walks or outings.
- Call Bingo games and lead religious bible studies or church services.
- Host social gatherings such as tea, coffee, or happy hours.
Requirements
- Must be 16+ years old for administrative work.
- Must be 18+ years old to visit patients (unless volunteering with a parent/guardian).
- Ability to pass a background check prior to being assigned duties.
