About the position

The Life Underwriting Assistant Rules Specialist at Amica Insurance plays a crucial role within the Underwriting Optimization team, focusing on the implementation of new rules and the enhancement of the underwriting rules engine. This position is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented and possess a strong understanding of underwriting processes. The specialist will work closely with the Optimization Development team to prioritize projects and initiatives that align with the organization's strategic and operational goals. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including Production Underwriting/New Business, Project Management, and Sales, to ensure the successful implementation and communication of new initiatives and guideline changes. In this position, the specialist will execute changes as directed by the Underwriting Optimization Coordinator to meet operational plan objectives. They will assist in creating user stories, mapping changes, and supporting work efforts to ensure timely execution of all parts of an initiative. A solid understanding of the Sureify to Resonant integrations is essential, as well as the ability to recommend and apply changes to improve workflows with vendors from a technical perspective. The specialist will also be responsible for testing and documenting system changes, monitoring and analyzing existing rules, and participating in process improvements both within the department and company-wide. The role may require the specialist to handle additional duties as needed, making adaptability and a proactive approach essential. Responsibilities

  • Execute changes at the direction of the UW Optimization Coordinator to achieve operational plan objectives.
  • Support the Optimization Development team in prioritizing projects and initiatives to ensure the organization's strategic and operational goals are met.
  • Assist with the enhancement of the underwriting engine.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including but not limited to: Production Underwriting/New Business, Project Management, and Sales, to ensure successful implementation and communication of new initiatives and guideline changes.
  • Create user stories, assist in mapping changes, and support work efforts to ensure all parts of an initiative are executed on time.
  • Understand the Sureify to Resonant integrations.
  • Recommend and apply suggested changes and developments to improve the workflow with vendors from a technical aspect.
  • Test and document system changes.
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve existing rules.
  • Have a working knowledge of the industry's data sources, including but not limited to Milliman and LexisNexis products, including IRIX, DX, MIB, and LRC.
  • Participate in process improvements for the department, as well as company-wide project engagement, as needed.
  • Recognize system needs, implement, and back department-level projects including process improvements.
  • Handle other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes and rules.
