The Lifeguard I position at the City of Lauderhill is a part-time role focused on ensuring water safety at public pools. The lifeguard is responsible for monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety regulations, performing minor maintenance tasks, and providing first aid when necessary. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lifeguard and enforce pool use rules and regulations.
  • Monitor weather and other factors to ensure the safety of pool patrons.
  • Check pool water chemistry and perform minor pool maintenance tasks.
  • Provide first aid and maintain related equipment.
  • Clean the pool and surrounding areas, including bathrooms and office spaces.
  • Perform park maintenance tasks such as pressure cleaning, painting, and minor repairs of park equipment.
  • Meet and greet pool patrons, answering questions and maintaining a friendly environment.
  • Attend meetings and training classes to maintain or upgrade skills and certifications.
  • Accept and receipt for cash; prepare logs and records documenting activities and events associated with pool operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational/technical training in aquatic skills, water safety, swimming, or a related field.
  • Up to 6 months of previous experience and/or training in a related role.
  • Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Lifeguard Training, and Standard First Aid.
