About The Position

The Lifeguard position at Kennesaw State University's Student Recreation and Activity Center is a part-time, temporary role focused on ensuring the safety of patrons in aquatic facilities. Requirements

• Current and valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certifications or equivalent

Nice To Haves

• Previous lifeguard experience preferred
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Proficiently demonstrate all water and land rescue skills
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures
• Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
• Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous
• Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
• Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
• Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
• Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of patrons using aquatic facilities
• Provides care in emergency situations in water and/or on land when necessary
• Inspects the facility, analyzes issues and reports unsafe conditions or equipment to the designated leader
• Monitors and reports water chemistry readings regularly and reports unsafe readings to the Facility Operations team
• Maintains a clean and safe aquatic area by performing basic cleaning assignments
• Enforces and educates patrons on all rules, policies and procedures as outlined in the department and Aquatics Staff Manuals
