About The Position

The Line Design Engineer at Oncor Electric Delivery Company is responsible for designing and overseeing engineering tasks related to transmission line projects at various voltage levels. This hybrid role involves engineering design, cost estimation, project execution, and material procurement, ensuring compliance with company practices and performance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Civil, and/or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 1 year of PLS-CADD modeling experience for Engineer level; 3 years for Staff Engineer; 5 years for Senior Engineer.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office for Engineer level; advanced knowledge for Staff and Senior Engineer levels.
  • Experience managing and designing transmission line projects independently for Staff and Senior Engineer levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) process.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Produce engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and bills of material for transmission line construction projects.
  • Utilize PLS-CADD for modeling, structure analysis, and loading trees, including sag-tension calculations and wire selection.
  • Design steel, concrete, or lattice towers and foundations, determining sag, tension, and thermal characteristics of conductors.
  • Prepare budgetary cost estimates and Work Authorizations for financial approval of projects.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate line designs and construction practices.
  • Provide design solutions and technical assistance to Transmission operations and maintenance organizations.
  • Develop expertise in electrical subject matter related to transmission line design.
