We are GDIT, a global technology and professional services company that delivers consulting, technology, and mission services to every major agency across the U.S. government, defense, and intelligence community. Our work depends on a Linux System Administrator joining our team to support the Guard Enterprise Cyber Operations Support (GECOS) program in Falls Church, VA. This position is crucial for the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG's global Information Technology (IT) services, which include networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. We utilize the ITIL best practices framework as the basis for our IT Service Management (ITSM) model. As a Linux System Administrator, you will provide system administration support for Linux operating systems, which includes installing software, applying patches, managing file systems, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting alerts from monitoring tools. You will analyze and resolve problems associated with the operating system, servers, hardware, and applications software. This role requires in-depth hardware configuration knowledge, shell programming expertise, and a solid understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures. You will be responsible for daily monitoring of interface programs between multiple enterprise systems, performing incremental and full cold backups/patching, and ensuring compliance with DoD Linux Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). In this position, you will also provide performance metrics and usage charts, including CPU usage, disk usage, and network uptime for the Linux Servers. You will be responsible for general maintenance, upgrades, and new installation of servers, coordinating with data center personnel to execute these tasks. Additionally, you will document and generate business processes for day-to-day and emergency support procedures, install, test, and verify Linux Security patches, and perform systems security administration functions. Your ability to communicate effectively with clients and senior staff will be essential, as you will need to explain technical intricacies in a way that is easily understood. Collaboration and teamwork are critical in this role, and you will be expected to engage with stakeholders to ensure tasks are progressing and meeting timelines.
