About the position

The Linux System Administrator position at Booz Allen is a critical role that combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills to support the Navy's operations. As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise workstations and server environments, ensuring that the infrastructure is functional and available at all times. Your role will involve constant monitoring and performance management to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement within a mission-critical network. You will be tasked with securing critical systems and implementing the latest technology and best practices to enhance the infrastructure. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support enterprise workstations and server environments.
  • Ensure the current infrastructure is functional and available.
  • Monitor and manage performance to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement.
  • Secure critical systems and implement the latest technology.
  • Communicate metrics and their significance to customers and team members.
  • Collaborate with team members to share techniques and develop new methodologies.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with administrating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Linux-based workstations and enterprise IT servers and systems.
  • Experience with workstation computer operating system and application loads and configuration.
  • Experience with managing or modifying Linux OS scripting, such as Bash scripts.
  • Experience with management of middleware applications such as Apache, JBoss, Elastic Stack.
  • Experience updating system and middleware configurations in accordance with quarterly DISA STIG requirement updates.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Server deployments in either Linux or Windows environments.
  • Secret clearance.
  • HS diploma or GED.
  • DoD 8140 CSWF Compliant Certification, such as GSEC, CompTIA Security+ CE, SCNP, or SSCP Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Windows IT servers and middleware, particularly IIS Web Server.
  • Experience with Navy networking and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience with administration of Relational Database Management Systems.
  • Linux Administration Certification.
