In this role, you will be responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems. You will maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems, serving as a front-line interface to users with technical issues. Your recommendations for hardware and software purchases will be crucial, and you will collaborate with program teams including Operations, Software Development, QA, and Security. Interacting with third-party technology vendors will also be part of your responsibilities. You will conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies. Your duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications, and training users. You will perform server administration for Server Operating Systems and manage both physical and virtualized servers. This includes the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware, as well as configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network-related interfaces on servers. Additionally, you will be responsible for OS and vendor software patching on servers and monitoring the performance of both physical and virtual servers using monitoring tools. To succeed in this role, you will need to bring your experience with installation, configuration, and management of Linux systems, preferably with Red Hat. A Bachelor's degree in systems engineering or a related specialized area or field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at the time of hire, and GDIT will sponsor the security clearance. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
