About the position

Sienna Systems is seeking a motivated Linux System Administrator professional to join our team at DISA. The primary focus of this role is to oversee, monitor, upgrade, and maintain Linux systems to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Mission Partners and internal DISA customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Linux system administration support for configuration and management functions for both NIPRNET and SIPRNET environments. This position requires a proactive approach to system management, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and securely. In this role, you will be tasked with installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining current systems and applications within a Linux environment. You will monitor Linux system activity using government-provided tools, addressing any errors or system anomalies in accordance with DoD and DISA instructions, policies, and directives. Additionally, you will provide technical oversight of Linux systems, performing trend analysis to assess system performance, recommend configuration or procedural changes, and participate in Linux systems planning. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will interact and coordinate with DISA service desks, technical staff, and customers to resolve technical problems effectively. Documentation is also an essential part of the role, as you will be responsible for documenting Linux systems administration processes, procedures, and activities to ensure clarity and compliance with established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain current systems and applications in a Linux environment.
  • Monitor Linux system activity utilizing government-provided tools and address any errors or system anomalies in accordance with DoD and DISA instructions, policies, and directives.
  • Provide technical oversight of Linux systems.
  • Perform trend analysis of Linux systems including system performance, recommend configuration or procedural changes, and participate in Linux systems planning.
  • Interact and coordinate with DISA service desks, technical staff, and customers to resolve technical problems.
  • Document Linux systems administration processes, procedures, and activities.

Requirements

  • Must have either Interim Secret or Secret Clearance.
  • Possess a CompTIA Security + certification (or higher) to start work.
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field AND 3 years of experience with systems or applications experience in a Linux environment OR 6 years of experience with systems or applications experience in a Linux environment.
