The National Security Sector is seeking a Linux System Administrator with a current TS/SCI to join our team at the National Maritime Intelligence Center in Suitland, MD. In this dynamic position, you will have the chance to work across projects and teams to provide support for the Office of Naval Intelligence's (ONI) Hopper Global Command Center's Enterprise Applications. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, rebuilding, configuring, maintaining, administering, and documenting Unix/Linux systems, software, system-related products, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with established standards. You will create, document, and implement repeatable processes to install, test, upgrade, maintain, and patch system environments and software. Troubleshooting and resolving system-related incidents detected during monitoring, by other technical teams, or reported by users will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins (IAVA/B) related to the current operating environment and implement remediation plans. Additionally, you will develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for routine and non-routine procedures that assist in the management and operation of the Linux Enterprise operating environments. Performing any required re-accreditation actions such as DISA STIG review, OS upgrades, vulnerability scan remediation, and documenting various required lists (PPSM, H/W, and S/W) during the normal accreditation cycle will also be part of your duties. You will have the opportunity to recommend changes to the government for improvement in the operating and/or security environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, rebuild, configure, maintain, administer and document Unix/Linux systems, software, system related products, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with established standards.
  • Create, document and implement repeatable processes to install, test, upgrade, maintain and patch system environments and software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related incidents detected during monitoring, by other technical teams, or reported by users.
  • Review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins (IAVA/B) related to current operating environment and implement remediation plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related work experience or a Master's degree with 6+ years of related work experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Current IAT Level II DoD Approved 8570-M Baseline Certification (e.g., Security+CE or equivalent) or the ability to obtain within 30 days from date of offer of acceptance.
  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience in administering and maintaining Linux systems and applications.
  • 6+ years technical experience of installation, configuration, and security of server environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator and Network technologies and protocols.
  • Experience operating in virtual environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud architectures and solutions.
  • Proven experience with applying various security standards (i.e. DISA STIGs, ACAS scans, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Docker container strategies, automated testing, and monitoring.
  • Experience with Bash, Ksh shell scripting.
