About the position

SMX is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to perform daily duties to support high performance through effective system monitoring and maintenance. The role involves conducting regular system monitoring and software patching to ensure optimal performance and security of the systems. The administrator will be responsible for quickly resolving system issues and customer tickets, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services. Additionally, the position requires the implementation of security measures, including compliance with the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG). This role is critical in maintaining the integrity and security of the systems in a high-performance environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with various scripting languages and system monitoring tools, as well as the ability to audit data from the operating system. Familiarity with virtualization technologies is also essential. The candidate should have experience with tools such as NAGIOS, Puppet, TENTAKEL, or IPMI, and should be proficient in using NESSUS for vulnerability assessments. Experience with high-performance Linux clusters and source code control systems is required, along with knowledge of AWS API command line operations. Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef, as well as CI/CD tools like Jenkins and package management with YUM repositories, is also necessary for this position.
