About the position

Sabre is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to support the Advanced Sensor Technologies Program Office (AST PO). This role is critical as the systems managed provide essential Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities for various Navy missions. The Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for implementing robust cybersecurity measures to ensure that advanced sensors and their systems remain effective and secure. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Point Mugu, California. In this position, you will provide initial technical support for customer-facing software, hardware, wired network infrastructure, and system security within a Linux High Performance Computing (HPC) environment. Your duties will include performing general Systems Administrator functions to support all HPC users, ensuring courteous responses to their system operations and maintenance activities. You will also support Senior Systems Administrators in optimizing the functionality and performance of hardware and software components, ensuring the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers, workstations, and data storage systems such as Lustre and Bright Cluster. Additionally, you will assist in creating, administering, and managing Linux user accounts, triaging Tier 1 Service desk tickets, and producing service ticket reports and performance metrics. Your role will involve supporting the Linux Systems Administrator and Engineering team in the installation and testing of HPC system components, including the setup and configuration of hardware, software, computing and data storage servers, networking equipment, and computing peripherals. You will also be responsible for backup management, addressing security issues, and performing timely hardware replacements not covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements. Collaboration with network personnel to configure networking equipment, ensure network security, and manage firewalls will also be part of your responsibilities. Compliance with all Program security requirements and adherence to IT policies, processes, and procedures will be essential in this role, along with managing changing priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial technical support for customer-facing software, hardware, wired network infrastructure, and system security of a Linux High Performance Computing (HPC) environment.
  • Perform general Systems Administrator functions supporting all HPC users with courteous responses to their HPC system operations and maintenance activities issues.
  • Support Senior Systems Administrators in optimizing the functionality and performance of hardware and software components.
  • Ensure availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers, workstations, and data storage systems (Lustre, Bright Cluster).
  • Support other System Administrators in creating, administering, and managing Linux user accounts.
  • Triage Tier 1 Service desk tickets and produce service ticket reports and performance metrics.
  • Support Linux SA and Engineering team in installation and testing of HPC system components, including setup and configuration of hardware and software, computing and data storage servers, networking equipment, and computing peripherals.
  • Provide responsive backup management, security issues, set up and configuration of Linux servers and software.
  • Perform timely hardware replacement not covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements.
  • Assist Network personnel in configuration of networking equipment, ensuring network security, and managing firewalls.
  • Implement necessary measures to comply with all Program security requirements.
  • Adhere to all IT policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage changing priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (e.g., CS, Engineering, Information Technology, etc.) and 5+ years of experience.
  • Current IAT II Certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerized technology, Ansible, and PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with high performance computing (HPC) environments, including Lustre in distributed computing environments and Bright Cluster Management toolset.
  • Experience in securing and hardening Linux systems to meet RMF controls.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere 6 and up.
  • Scripting experience (BASH, Python, or Perl).
  • Experience with CUDA, Google TensorFlow, or similar toolsets.
  • Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Exposure to machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility (U.S. Citizenship Required).
