About the position

ASRC Communications, Ltd is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Service Response Systems Administrator - Linux in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Unified Cyber Situational Awareness (UCSA) program in Columbus, OH. The Service Response Systems Administrator supports 24x7x365 classified operations and will design, install, configure, secure, troubleshoot and maintain operating systems for mission critical servers in support of classified programs supporting the Department of Defense (DoD). This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and security of the IT infrastructure that supports national defense operations. The successful candidate will manage the Enterprise Red Hat Linux computing infrastructure, ensuring that all systems are operational and secure. Responsibilities include the installation and maintenance of Enterprise Linux Servers and network systems, server/storage/network devices in accordance with DoD policies and procedures. The administrator will also respond to and oversee Continuity of Operations (COOP) events, perform site coordination duties, and test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact. Additionally, the role involves providing assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems, working collaboratively with a team of Service desk and systems Administrators, and utilizing Remedy/ITSM+ ticketing systems for trouble management documentation. The position requires effective communication with remote customers and the ability to provide touch support for various information systems for equipment at the Columbus Data Center. The administrator will also be responsible for optimizing system operations and resource utilization, performing system capacity analysis and planning, and researching and recommending improvements to system performance. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of IT operations within a high-stakes environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Enterprise Red Hat Linux computing infrastructure
  • Installation and Maintenance of Enterprise Linux Servers and network systems server/storage/network devices in accordance with DoD policies and procedures
  • Respond to, and oversee Continuity of Operations (COOP) events
  • Perform site coordination duties

  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to DoD agencies and internal customers
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning
  • Research and recommend/assist in improving system performance
  • Communicate effectively with remote customers
  • Provide touch support for various information systems for equipment at Columbus Data Center

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical field, OR four (4) years of relevant IT experience in lieu of degree
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Able to lift 50 lbs in the performance of touch labor duties
  • A DoD 8570 IAT Level II approved certification is required
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Linux/Unix systems/networks and related applications is required
  • Knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Experience with Zabbix or similar monitoring software
  • Experience with big data and data formats such as CSV, CEF, JSON, XML, etc.
  • Experience with Clustered File Systems
  • Experience with Splunk preferred
  • Experience with Cloud Computing technologies is preferred
  • Experience with virtualization technologies is preferred
