About the position

Amentum is seeking a Linux System Architect II to support an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role involves architecting the Linux server environment, primarily using RedHat and Ansible for automation. The position requires strong scripting skills, particularly in Python, and familiarity with containerization technologies. The architect will be part of a team providing enterprise IT support across multiple facilities for both classified and unclassified systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect the Linux server environment primarily using RedHat.
• Utilize Ansible for automating tasks.
• Work with containerization technologies as needed.
• Define system requirements based on user/client needs and integration with existing systems.
• Provide excellent customer service and communication with customers and vendors.
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an IT related field and 10 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 13 years of experience, or a High School diploma/GED and 16 years of experience, or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q Government Clearance.
• Scripting experience, particularly in Python.
• Linux Server System Administration & UNIX experience (1-3 years).
• Familiarity with network protocols and management technologies.
• Experience with automation platforms such as Ansible, VMware, and Python (1-3 years).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Containerization experience.
• Windows system administration experience (1-3 years).
• Experience leading and implementing large technical solutions.
• RHCE/CCNA certification.
• Experience in Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for automation.
• Experience with container technology such as Kubernetes, RKE, Docker, etc.
• Experience with virtualization, servers, storage, and networking equipment.
• ESXi experience.
• Experience designing ground system architectures on US Government Programs.
