The Burrillville School Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Long Term Substitute Art Teacher at Burrillville High School. This role is set to commence on September 3 and will conclude on November 8. The primary responsibility of the Art Teacher will be to implement the Burrillville School curriculum effectively while creating a flexible and conducive learning environment that supports student achievement and personal growth. The teacher will focus on the development of social skills and the foundational knowledge necessary for middle-level grades, tailored to each student's individual abilities. Establishing positive relationships with parents and colleagues is also a key aspect of this role. In this position, the teacher will adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students. They will translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences and evaluate students' academic growth by maintaining appropriate data and records. The teacher will prepare progress reports and report cards, ensuring that they follow the district curriculum with fidelity and adhere to the defined timelines. The goal is to provide multiple opportunities for students to learn and move toward proficiency in their art education. Effective communication with parents is essential, and the teacher will engage in conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school curriculum and expectations. Professional development is encouraged, and the teacher will maintain their professional competence through in-service education activities. Participation in curriculum development programs and faculty committees, as well as the sponsorship of student activities, is also expected. The teacher will administer group standardized tests in accordance with the state testing program and will be responsible for selecting and requisitioning books and instructional aides while maintaining accurate inventory records.
