The Lower School Permanent Substitute position at Montverde Academy is designed to initially fulfill long-term substitute needs, with the potential for a full-time teaching role in the 2025-2026 school year. The primary responsibility of this position is to facilitate the instructional process by serving as a teacher, supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. This includes developing lesson plans and delivering both group and individual instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines. The role requires collaboration with other teachers, staff, and administrators to address instructional and classroom issues, as well as responding to inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress. In this role, the teacher will be responsible for teaching subjects such as reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science, utilizing age-appropriate instructional methods to meet learning objectives and standards. The teacher will instruct students in citizenship and behavioral expectations appropriate for their age group. Lesson plans and instructional materials will be developed to provide individualized, small group, and whole group instruction. A variety of instructional strategies will be employed, including inquiry-based learning, group discussions, lectures, independent study, experimental learning, and guided practice, to create engaging learning experiences. Assessment of student progress will be conducted through various methods to evaluate learning objectives and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration. The teacher will also evaluate students' academic and social growth, maintain standards of student behavior, and monitor students in various educational environments to ensure a safe and positive learning atmosphere. Communication with parents will be essential, involving conferences and other means to discuss student progress and address any questions. The teacher will create an effective learning atmosphere by maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and age-appropriate classroom environment. Collaboration with Learning Support personnel will be necessary to provide support to children identified in the Learning Support Program. Participation in in-service and professional development opportunities is expected to maintain and enhance educational expertise, as well as collaboration with peers to review and discuss curriculum development and alignment across divisions.
