This position is classified as safety-sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act, meaning that the LPN may be subject to drug testing and other regulations related to safety-sensitive roles. The LPN will work in a dynamic environment, requiring the ability to adapt to changing conditions and make decisions based on general instructions from supervisors. The role does not involve direct supervision of others but may involve leading peers in the same work performed. The LPN will work directly with patients and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Administers nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on physician's orders and nursing care plan.
  • Consults with registered nurse to plan patient care.
  • Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties including data collection.
  • Documents nursing process and care clearly, consistently, and accurately.
  • Facilitates patient teaching and implements discharge planning.
  • Makes appropriate referrals based on patient needs.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and meets unit education standards.
  • Accurately completes variance reports.
  • Modifies behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.

Requirements

  • Completion of a state approved Licensed Practical Nurse program or registered nurse coursework approved by the Board of Nursing as practical nurse equivalency.
  • Valid State of Oklahoma LPN License.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  • IV therapy medication administration as guided by hospital policy.
