About the position

The Lunch & Bus Aide position at Hebrew Public Charter Schools involves supporting students during lunch, recess, and their travel home. This role is crucial for ensuring student safety and promoting social-emotional development. The aide will supervise student behavior, assist with maintaining a clean lunch environment, and ensure safe transportation for students on the bus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise student behavior during lunch and recess, enforcing behavioral expectations.
• Support students in maintaining a clean lunch environment.
• Lead student activities during recess.
• Monitor student movement from class to common areas at hallway posts.
• Participate in food service training as needed.
• Supervise students during dismissal while awaiting the bus.
• Escort students from the school building to the bus.
• Take daily bus attendance.
• Assist students in getting on and off the bus safely.
• Ensure students are received by authorized adults at each stop.
• Ensure all students wear a seat belt while on the bus if available.
• Supervise student behavior on the bus, enforcing behavioral expectations.
• Maintain a positive and calm attitude while protecting students from abuse.
• Learn the bus route and inform the substitute driver when necessary.
• Communicate effectively with families and school staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Must obtain all required clearances.
• Experience working with children.
• Adherence to professionalism norms and expectations.

Nice-to-haves

• American Red Cross First Aid Training Certificate preferred.
• Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs and adaptive equipment.
