About the position

The Finance Director at Lydia Place is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, which aims to disrupt the cycle of homelessness. This role involves providing fiscal guidance to the Executive Director, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The Finance Director will also lead the annual budget process, prepare for audits, and maintain financial records for an organization with an operating budget exceeding $6 million.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions and provide detailed financial reporting.
  • Implement the annual budgetary process and prepare for annual audits.
  • Monitor compliance with agency finance policies and enforce internal controls.
  • Lead the preparation of the annual operational budget and program budgets.
  • Provide financial information and reports to Program Managers and Directors for timely decision-making.
  • Monitor and project cash flow, ensuring timely bank deposits and record-keeping.
  • Prepare records and reports for the agency's annual audit and ensure timely filings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of progressive experience in financial management.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Proficiency with PC/Windows, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and cloud-based software.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people.
  • Two years of experience providing direct supervision of staff.
  • Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and proof of insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, MBA, or MPA.
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting and finance management.
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct accounting system.
  • Experience with financial management of governmental grants and contracts.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Russian, or Sign Language.
