About the position

The Algorithm Validation Engineer will be part of the Product Systems Quality team at Apple, focusing on delivering high-quality Computer Vision and Machine Learning algorithms for Apple's innovative products. This role involves collaborating with algorithm development teams to design and execute testing procedures that enhance algorithm performance and ensure a seamless user experience. The engineer will work closely with hardware and software teams to evaluate system design and external factors affecting model performance, contributing to the overall reliability and usability of Apple products.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute live test procedures and user studies to improve ML algorithm performance.
• Conduct aggressor searches and manage annotation pipelines for comprehensive testing.
• Evaluate end-to-end system performance to represent the true customer experience.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to assess system design influences on model performance.
• Refine models that enhance Apple's user experience through rigorous testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong programming skills with hands-on experience in Python.
• Experience in testing products related to computer vision, machine learning, or generative AI.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Academic background in data science, machine learning, or statistical data analysis.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Familiarity with CoreML, Swift, and iOS/macOS machine learning development.
• Experience in data analysis and visualization tools like Tableau or Superset.
• Understanding of performance testing for various sensing technologies.
