The Machine Operator position at Sabre Industries involves performing essential duties required for the movement of raw, in-process, and finished materials throughout the production process. This role is critical in ensuring that the production line operates smoothly and efficiently. The operator will be responsible for sawing 18J/14J bolt material as required by blueprints, under the guidance of the Lead and Supervisor. Attention to detail, the ability to follow directions, and a commitment to operating in a clean, safe, and cost-effective manner are paramount to achieving the organization's goals and key performance metrics. In this role, the operator will determine the sequence of operations by reading shop drawings, specifications, and work orders. They will be tasked with cutting, laying out, sawing, punching, bending, drilling, or stamping materials as detailed in the shop drawings, ensuring minimal operator defects. The operator will also be responsible for changing or replacing tooling and consumables on the machines as needed, using proper setting techniques to avoid damage to the machines. Accurate reading of a tape measure to 1/16 inch is essential, as is logging in and out of the Epicor computer system to report run time and quantities. The position requires the operator to load programs related to nesting summaries into the machines and perform simple maintenance diagnosis of machines. Safety is a critical component of this role, which includes operating cranes, hoists, and gantries, as well as adhering to load capacity and pre-operational checklists. The operator must maintain a clean and organized work area and contribute to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in all areas of operation. Teamwork is also emphasized, as the operator is expected to communicate and work well with others while performing other duties as assigned.
