About the position

This engineering position has responsibility for the quality and continuous improvement of machining processes and documentation in WC's Main Machine Shop. Duties would include enhancement of machining capabilities and providing the Manufacturing Engineering Group with accurate information to use in the creation of routings for machining operations. This role serves as an expert resource to the organization on machining processes and techniques with an emphasis on new products, difficult machining operations, and process improvement along with identification of new tooling and/or fixturing needs to increase MetalTek's machining abilities. This position is also responsible for overseeing the machine shop Tool Room/Tool Crib, the design, manufacture, storage, distribution, maintenance, and ordering of all standard and special tooling and fixturing for WC's machining processes. This position will also be expected to assist the Machine Shop Manager in the development and execution of the Machine Shop capital plans.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance machining capabilities and provide accurate information for routing creation.
  • Serve as an expert resource on machining processes and techniques.
  • Focus on new products, difficult machining operations, and process improvement.
  • Identify new tooling and/or fixturing needs to increase machining abilities.
  • Oversee the machine shop Tool Room/Tool Crib.
  • Manage design, manufacture, storage, distribution, maintenance, and ordering of tooling and fixturing.
  • Assist the Machine Shop Manager in capital plans development and execution.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of machining practices, fixturing, tooling, and programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus 7+ years of technical experience in machining applications preferred.
  • Journeyman-type training plus relevant technical coursework and/or experience acceptable as an alternative.
  • At least two years of experience in a supervisory or lead role required.
  • Strong skills in CAD, with preference given to Siemens NX.
  • Skills in data analysis, communication, and prioritization are needed.
