About the position

The Machine Tool Systems Account Manager at Siemens is responsible for managing a multi-million-dollar territory focused on high-profile accounts in the CNC and automation equipment sector. This remote position, primarily covering Illinois with a preference for the metro Chicago area, requires a self-driven individual who can develop and maintain long-term relationships with key customer contacts, negotiate sales agreements, and drive business growth through strategic account management. The role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and a deep understanding of industrial manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a multi-million-dollar territory with existing high-profile accounts.
  • Expand business to meet or exceed sales quotas by increasing Siemens' share of wallet and entering new accounts.
  • Develop and cultivate long-term relationships with key contacts within customer organizations, including C-level executives.
  • Negotiate pricing deals, sales agreements, and project support.
  • Drive direct sales of Siemens CNC hardware and software portfolio with domestic machine tool builders.
  • Orchestrate assigned account teams and develop strategic account plans to achieve business goals.
  • Work closely with marketing to create and distribute customer success stories to enhance recognition of Siemens Machine Tool Systems.
  • Guide customers into new markets and technologies, such as composite or additive manufacturing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales experience in territory growth, account management, or business development with consistent quota achievement.
  • 8+ years total work experience in relevant fields.
  • Solid understanding of CNC controls, industrial automation technologies, and digitalization.
  • Experience in selling complex solutions or systems with a focus on customer value.
  • Ability to work in a complex ecosystem both internally and externally.
  • High level of self-driven decision-making abilities guided by business targets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across all levels of a customer organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Sales or engineering experience with machine tools or CNC controls/automation equipment.
  • Basic knowledge about major growth industries and technologies such as additive manufacturing, digitalization, and e-mobility.
  • Sales certifications or trainings (e.g., value selling, trend selling, challenger sales, MEDDIC).
  • Strong network in the US machine building industry.
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering preferred.
