About the position

The Machinery and Equipment - Field Engineer position at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies involves providing boiler inspections and managing a designated territory. This role is essential in supporting independent insurance agents by offering professional resources, educating them on marketing strategies, and delivering high-quality claims service. The position can be filled by either a trainee or an experienced engineer and is primarily remote for those outside the headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain territory's jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel certificate inspections.
  • Efficiently and effectively manage the territory for which you are responsible.
  • Educate agents on how to market machinery and equipment to their clients.
  • Serve as a professional resource to our insurance agents as they retain business and increase the value of their marketing efforts.
  • Provide high level of claims service to our local independent insurance agents.

  • For trainees: an engineering or technically-based bachelor's degree or other qualifying boiler and pressure vessel work experience.
  • For trainees: strong customer service skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • For trainees: strong interpersonal skills and excellent problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • For trainees: strong proficiency in Microsoft® Office tools and related software.
  • For trainees: a willingness to travel regularly within the territory to meet job demands.
  • For trainees: valid driver's license.
  • For experienced engineers: machinery and equipment experience within a property and casualty insurance company (preferred).
  • For experienced engineers: strong knowledge of machinery and equipment, equipment breakdown coverages, corresponding business lines, regulations, and consensus standards (preferred).
  • For experienced engineers: a bachelor's degree applicable to the position responsibilities or related experience and training.
  • For experienced engineers: a national board commission or the necessary qualifications to promptly acquire it.
  • For experienced engineers: strong consultative, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • For experienced engineers: a demonstrated pursuit of continuing education.
