About the position

The Maintenance Assistant at Sterling Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the facility's maintenance systems meet the needs of residents while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations. This position requires effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a long-term care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement maintenance systems to meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
  • Implement a monitoring system for the maintenance department and make recommendations for implementation to assure compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
  • Demonstrate competence in leadership, tactful interpersonal communication and problem solving.
  • Notify supervisor when equipment is in need of repair.
  • Notify supervisor when areas of the facility are in need of repair.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Trade/vo-tech graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to function independently and exhibit flexibility.
  • Personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, families, and support agencies.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State Long Term Care regulations and requirements.
