As a Maintenance B Technician at International Paper, you will be responsible for performing a variety of activities to maintain plant equipment and facilities in optimum operating condition. This includes scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to ensure the smooth operation of the plant. You will work under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and will be expected to follow all safety rules and practices to ensure product safety. Your role will involve performing preventative maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, repositioning components, and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels. Additionally, you will be tasked with performing emergency maintenance as necessary to support plant operations, referencing equipment manuals and technical literature, and utilizing your knowledge of mechanical equipment drawings to troubleshoot and repair equipment. You will also be responsible for contacting and working with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results, accurately using measurement and test equipment, and performing repairs and installations across various systems including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic. Your ability to read and interpret schematics and diagrams will be crucial, as will your knowledge of rigging and welding techniques. Maintaining clean and organized work areas, preparing maintenance records, and utilizing the maintenance computer system for notifications and research will also be part of your daily responsibilities. You will be expected to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively while maintaining teamwork with other associates and keeping supervision informed of any issues or unusual situations. Qualifications for this position include the ability to perform the duties of the job with or without accommodation, proficiency in using measuring devices, and well-rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills. The Maintenance Supervisor will evaluate your qualifications, and you will need to demonstrate your skills through a maintenance skills test prior to the interview.
