About the position

The Maintenance I position on the 2nd shift at our Vidalia, GA location plays a crucial role in supporting our production environment. This role involves performing simple repairs, building maintenance, and addressing commonly occurring maintenance issues that require minimal training. The successful candidate will be proactive in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment, ensuring that production associates can operate effectively. The Maintenance I technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance tasks and resolving basic maintenance issues that require problem-solving skills. This includes replacing HVAC filters and performing minor HVAC work, ordering replacement parts, and executing simple carpentry tasks to support building repairs. The technician will also be expected to communicate effectively with production teams and the OFT Process Team to relay any issues that arise. Flexibility is key in this role, as the technician must be willing to work off-shift, weekends, and holidays as needed. The position may also require on-call availability. The technician will provide their own hand tools and will engage in ongoing training and development as required to enhance their skills and knowledge in the maintenance field.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a proactive working environment through ongoing communication with Production associates.
  • Support the production environment with simple repairs, building maintenance, and commonly occurring maintenance issues that require minimal training.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and other maintenance issues that require basic skills and problem solving.
  • Replace HVAC filters and perform minor HVAC work.
  • Order replacement parts and replace simple building components.
  • Conduct simple carpentry work that supports building repairs.
  • Support Trane Vidalia's goals of Safety, Quality, and Teamwork to achieve overall success of Trane.
  • Be flexible to meet the needs of the company, including daily, off-shift work, weekends, shutdowns, and holidays.
  • Communicate issues to and from Production Teams and the OFT Process Team.
  • Provide and be responsible for personal hand tools.
  • Engage in ongoing training/development as needed and/or required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-4 years' experience in the maintenance field
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)
  • Ability to foster a team environment and support team goals
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work with various hand tools such as drills, saws, hammers, etc.
  • Ability to maintain pneumatic and hydraulic equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and precision instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers)
  • Ability to run low voltage circuits in accordance with national electrical codes
  • Ability to troubleshoot low voltage control circuits
  • Possible certification required.
