Maintenance/Porter

About the position

The Porter/Housekeeper at Bassett Furniture is responsible for maintaining the showroom's cleanliness and ensuring a welcoming and attractive environment. This role involves various tasks related to the upkeep of the showroom, offices, restrooms, and storage areas, contributing to the overall brand image of the store.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the showroom, offices, restrooms, warehouse, and storage spaces.
• Organize and maintain storage areas within the showroom.
• Inspect and maintain the outside appearance of the showroom, including planters and parking lot cleanliness.
• Perform routine building maintenance such as wall retouching, painting, and minor repairs.
• Assist with furniture assembly and customer pickups as needed.
• Receive and inspect deliveries to ensure showroom quality.
• Assist designers with product movement for showroom presentation.
• Partner with visual merchandiser and store manager for floor moves and inventory resets.
• Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and report any safety concerns.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalency certificate.
• 1 year experience in a maintenance/housekeeping position preferred but not required.
• Valid Driver's License with a clear and safe driving record.
• Ability to work in an organized and safety-conscious manner.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and management.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds without assistance.
