About the position
The Maintenance Technician III at Hood Packaging Corporation is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of equipment in the Tifton, GA facility. This role involves both the creation of new equipment and the repair of existing machinery, utilizing a variety of maintenance skills. The technician will ensure that maintenance orders are read accurately, perform preventive maintenance, and adhere to quality check requirements while maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret maintenance orders, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions and failures of operational equipment.
- Ensure all raw materials and tools are available for maintenance tasks.
- Properly store all tools, waste, and unused materials after use.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lock, Tag, Try and use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain accurate records in a log book during maintenance activities.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors during troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
Requirements
- Proficiency with PLCs, ladder logic, and programming languages in SLC, HMI, and VFDs.
- Ability to interpret and troubleshoot motor controls, including experience with 3 phase, A/C, and D/C voltages.
- Experience reading and understanding wiring diagrams.
- Excellent mechanical comprehension and ability.
- Good organizational skills and physical fitness for handling motor controls.
Nice-to-haves
- 1 to 4 years of experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
- Good hand/eye coordination and housekeeping skills.
