About the position

NOW HIRING Maintenance Tech at our Manchester Road location in Kalamazoo, MI! The role of the Maintenance Technician is to provide electrical and electronics support to the manufacturing facility to maximize safety, quality, and production uptime. This position requires a strong understanding of preventative maintenance strategies and the ability to diagnose and repair faulty production and related plant equipment with minimal supervision. The technician will utilize provided schematics, manuals, and drawings to troubleshoot electrical problems and repair electro-mechanical issues. In addition to diagnosing and repairing equipment, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for identifying faulty parts and providing proper nomenclature for requisitions to ensure that spares or replacements can be ordered. The role also involves installing equipment and conducting test runs, as well as developing and maintaining a spare parts inventory in the storeroom. The technician must maintain necessary records and established maintenance procedures while ensuring a clean and safe working environment. The position requires teamwork and leadership qualities, as the technician will be expected to lead co-workers in assigned tasks and assist with tooling setup and maintenance when needed. The technician will also be responsible for additional specific duties related to each shift as assigned by the Shift Team Leader, along with other necessary duties as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair faulty production and related plant equipment with minimal supervision using provided schematics, manuals, and drawings.
  • Identify faulty parts and provide proper nomenclature in the form of a requisition for ordering spares or replacements.
  • Install equipment and conduct test runs.
  • Develop and maintain store room spare parts inventory and establish a withdraw, return, and re-order procedure.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
  • Assist with tooling setup and maintenance when needed.
  • Maintain necessary records and established maintenance procedures.
  • Lead co-workers in assigned tasks as needed.
  • Perform additional specific duties related to each shift as assigned by the Shift Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of experience in a related field and a mechanical pretest to employment.
  • High school graduate required.
  • Completion of a vocational or trade school curriculum from an authorized school with a concentration in electro-mechanical courses desired.
  • Must be able to read and use precision type instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to establish cause and effect relationships in an office and/or manufacturing environment.
