About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Baker Boy is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the plant facility and production equipment through proactive maintenance and repair. This role involves solving mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and minor electrical problems in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. The technician will address issues related to plant, packaging, and processing equipment, including wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, transformers, motors, and AC/DC motor control circuits. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for repairing minor leaks and maintaining the overall performance of the steam system, as well as completing preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner. The technician will also maintain the proper operation of the water distribution system and the compressed air system, ensuring point-of-use filtration is in place. Troubleshooting abilities using electrical testing equipment are essential, as is knowledge of the PSM/RMP ammonia system program. The technician must understand how the ammonia system functions and possess the ability to troubleshoot issues with approved training, including Ammonia Operator I and II certifications. A solid understanding of electrical systems, welding, fabricating, variable frequency drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and drive trains is also required. In addition to technical skills, the Maintenance Technician must adhere to HAACP and GMP policies, maintain a clean working environment, and follow all company policies and procedures to produce safe, quality, and legal products. The normal work week consists of 40 hours, but overtime may be necessary on a daily and/or weekly basis. This position requires the ability to work in various environments within the facility, including palletizing and freezer areas, and involves physical demands such as lifting, bending, and repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve issues related to wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, transformers, motors, and AC/DC motor control circuits.
  • Repair minor leaks and maintain overall system performance of the steam system.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper operation of the water distribution system and the compressed air system.
  • Troubleshoot using electrical testing equipment.
  • Understand and troubleshoot the PSM/RMP ammonia system program with approved training.
  • Follow HAACP and GMP policies to maintain a clean working environment.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures to ensure safe, quality, and legal products.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to perform simple math problems, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
  • High school diploma or GED required, or two or more years of English as a Second Language classes required.
  • Technical or vocational training related to maintenance and repair is required.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in the field is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and possess good communication skills.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations to ensure personal and co-worker safety.
  • Physical ability to perform bending, kneeling, stooping, walking, standing, reaching, grasping, carrying, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds consistently and up to 52 pounds occasionally.
