Maintenance Worker 1

About the position

The position involves working outdoors under various weather conditions and requires physical stamina to perform heavy work. The incumbent will be responsible for daily field decisions and will perform a wide variety of maintenance duties, including the use of various tools and equipment. The job is full-time and seasonal, with a 40-hour workweek and occasional overnight travel for training and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Constructing and/or repairing property boundary and cross fences using permanent or electric fences.
• Maintaining roads, culverts, ditches, dikes, parking areas, and bridges using heavy and light equipment.
• Maintaining and repairing heavy and light equipment and machinery.
• Maintaining latrine facilities at FAS and State parks.
• Loading and unloading heavy and light equipment from trailers and pickups.
• Repairing and maintaining Department buildings and structures.
• Performing interior and exterior repairs to maintain a safe environment for public users.

Requirements

• Knowledge of methods and practices of general maintenance and construction work.
• Skilled in the use and repair of general maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of correct weed application procedures as a Certified Weed Applicator.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of job-related experience.
