About the position

The Manager, Brand Design executes the design process for new GoTo Foods specialty and restaurant locations. This position executes the design team's efforts to ensure they create innovative and striking designs that satisfy one individual Brands' design criteria and operational standards. The manager works across multiple stakeholders (Brand marketing, Operations, Development team, Vendors, Franchisees, and Franchisees' A&E Team) to provide status updates, test fits, final conceptual layouts that optimize space, functionality, budgets and Brand identity, as well as review construction documentation of the design. The manager will also collaborate with the Brand and coordinate all architectural design activities with designated GoTo Foods' third-party Design and Architectural Firms as directed by the Director of Design. This role will also work with other internal managers and directors in design to establish standards, economies of scale and best practices for GoTo Foods. The Manager of Brand Design works collaboratively with the Development Directors to support all new Franchise locations, providing support through Design Development phases and executes the Brand Design Discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Complete production of test-fit and concept designs for multiple specialty and/or restaurant brand concepts to meet strategic Development team goals
  • Reviews preliminary conceptual plans and communicates corrections to adhere to brand standards whenever necessary
  • Communicates with Franchisees to provide and gain approval on conceptual plans
  • Review construction documents and signage packages to ensure brand design is correctly represented
  • Oversee the maintenance of design criteria detail drawings and infrastructure files/documents for layouts and specialty items
  • Prepares presentations and/or renderings to communicate design intent for new stores, remodels, tests and other new design ideas
  • Provides design guidance to team members, the franchisee, external Brand Partner and architect; provides proper tools and materials to assist them with trademark or design issues
  • Oversees and creates elevations, colored renderings and perspective views, when necessary
  • Evaluates existing stores for design considerations and oversees the management of design upgrades where appropriate
  • Continually searches for new and innovative design approaches to enhance the quality and efficiency of locations and design team efforts
  • Collaborates with Development and Operations Teams on design implementation, prototype design, maintenance, finish material selection and specifications to optimize daily store operations as well as internal team efficiency
  • Works with Real Estate team in support of optimizing locations for new development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Interior Design, Architecture, Architectural Design, or related field, Required
  • 4+ years relevant work experience (e.g., National restaurants/retail design, FFE (Furniture, Fixtures, Equipment) specifications), Required
  • Proficient in Auto CAD and able to read, understand, and review design and construction drawings
  • Skills in Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator particularly in regard to interior and exterior renderings
  • Experience in Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to track design projects within standardized application (e.g., Lucernex or PM equivalent)
  • Ability to manage and organize projects across various stakeholder groups
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships (e.g., franchisees, 3rd party vendors, other departments, etc.) and foster an environment of mutual respect, understanding, trust, and support
  • Ability to adapt and adjust planned work through analyzing work demands, competing priorities, and tight deadlines within parameters of the organizational structure, processes, systems, and policies
  • Ability to gather data from multiple sources and make informed decisions that includes an understanding of the business (business acumen)
  • Ability to provide actionable recommendations, develop implementation plans, and provide effective change execution to enhance quality, efficiency and overall effectiveness
  • Ability to convey clear, concise information in verbal, written, electronic, and other communication formats and to demonstrate active listening while engaging others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
