About the position

The Commercial Portfolio Group Manager 2 is responsible for overseeing a regional market's Wholesale Banking portfolio, leading a team of Group Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Managers. This role involves directing credit underwriting and portfolio management functions, ensuring asset quality, and collaborating with various stakeholders to analyze and service the portfolio effectively. The position also includes special project assignments and requires strong leadership and management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Group Portfolio Managers and PMs responsible for underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Establish roles, responsibilities, and expectations for the team.
  • Coordinate regional department workflow to ensure timely handling of credit requests.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of credit underwriting and approval packages.
  • Monitor the portfolio's health quality ratings and identify trends.
  • Maintain reporting for the assigned portfolio, including pipeline reports and metrics.
  • Review market and industry analyses to evaluate economic drivers affecting customer relationships.
  • Participate in special projects and ad-hoc committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, or related commercial banking experience.
  • Successful completion of an on-the-job credit training program or certificate program.
  • Experience managing diversified, complex, sensitive, and high-dollar credit relationships.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements and regulations.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation, structuring, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and financial analysis skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing a team in a banking environment.
  • Familiarity with non-credit bank products and services.
  • Understanding of macro and microeconomic issues as they apply to business.
