About the position

The Manager- CL role is responsible for all activities related to operations of the Commercial Lines (CL) department in conjunction with other team leaders. Depending on the structure of the department and agency, this role may also perform other duties such as those of an Account Executive or Marketing Manager. The Manager-CL position will continuously look to improve the client service experience and the workflows associated with delivering excellent customer service throughout the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the Commercial Lines Department.
  • Resolves issues and promotes quality improvement and new capability initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains a book of business by working closely with clients and insurance carriers, and delegates tasks to members of the account team.
  • Assists with regional leadership activities, including hiring, coaching, and developing employees.
  • Develops strategies and programs to prepare the team with the skills and knowledge needed to support/enhance performance.
  • Works to solidify strong relationships with insurers, clients, and staff.
  • Oversees internal audit process, concentrating on adherence to procedures and workflows, and provides results to management and service staff.
  • Identifies and develops additional training opportunities as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree from college or technical school; a combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates without an advanced degree.
  • Property and Casualty License.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial property and casualty insurance with 7+ years of experience of independently managing a book at an insurance agency.
  • Tech savvy; ability to navigate multiple systems including Agency Management Software; Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products.
