About the position

The Manager, Electrical Engineering is responsible for leading a team of Electrical Engineers in planning, research & development, and execution of engineering tasks for various projects and programs. This role involves managing staffing, recruiting, training, and talent development while collaborating with leadership teams to meet business and program requirements. The position requires effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and vendors, and may involve briefings with senior leaders. The candidate must possess technical and leadership expertise in sonar acoustics and underwater communications for DoD applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Electrical Engineering development efforts, managing technical scope and delivering to technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to the engineering team and program teams, ensuring high standards of technical competence and achievement.
  • Oversee design and development of active and passive sonar systems, including digital signal processing (DSP) architecture design and sonar performance predictions.
  • Provide input to program bids and generate bases of estimate.
  • Manage and direct the day-to-day activities of the Electrical Engineering team and make individual work assignments.
  • Monitor individual performance and prepare formal performance assessments.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to management and customers.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical/Software/Computer Engineering or comparable discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant technical experience; or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in supervising, leading, and developing engineering personnel.
  • Current DOD Secret level clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Knowledge of acoustics and sonar systems.
  • Proficient in EVMS, Control Account Management, and design team leadership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with DARPA or US Navy or ONR highly desired.
  • Advanced understanding of underwater acoustics/signal processing theory and techniques required.
  • Experience in DSP architecture design and sonar acoustics.
  • Experience with advanced signal processing concepts.
