About the position

In this role, you will lead a team of software development and quality engineers to deliver high-value custom applications specifically tailored for Finance and Accounting Systems within Vizient's GPO Systems service line. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the technical quality, architectural integrity, and operational readiness of the products while managing technical debt across the assigned products. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including the Service Line Leader, Business Technology Product Owner (BTPO), subject matter experts, UX designers, Product Strategy Management (PSM), Enterprise Architects (EA), Quality Analysts (QA), Support, Operations, and Development Operations. This collaboration is essential to ensure that the products not only meet compliance standards but also adhere to sound engineering practices. As a change agent, you will be instrumental in driving innovation and improving technical and operational processes. You will lead technical solutioning, estimation, and development for pipeline initiatives, providing hands-on contributions to design, development, and architecture. Your role will also involve mentoring and coaching teams on Agile methodologies and engineering best practices, fostering a sense of ownership among team members regarding projects and issue resolution. You will act as an escalation point for high-severity production issues and support annual budgeting by contributing to estimates, feasibility, scheduling, and capacity planning. In addition to leading hiring, onboarding, and performance management for software and quality engineers, you will ensure cross-functional consistency and alignment across teams. Partnering with Enterprise Architects will be crucial to ensure compliance with architectural best practices. You will work closely with DevOps, QA, and support teams to optimize development and operations, staying informed about technology trends and internal roadmaps to guide team skill development. Your efforts will drive the adoption of Agile, lean, and engineering practices to support effective team structures, while also developing individualized growth plans for team members and providing ongoing mentorship. Ultimately, you will cultivate a digital engineering culture that emphasizes innovation, growth, and continuous development, ensuring alignment with industry trends, business needs, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical solutioning, estimation, and development for pipeline initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on contributions to design, development, and architecture.
  • Serve as the Engineering Owner for small to medium-sized development teams.
  • Mentor and coach teams on Agile methodologies and engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • Preferred degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 or more years' of experience in software development, with expertise in designing and deploying large-scale, data-driven web applications using technologies such as .NET, JavaScript, Angular, Typescript, SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory (ADF), SSIS, Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Service Bus, Octopus, and MicroStrategy.
  • 5 or more years' of leadership experience, including direct, indirect, or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to process improvement.
  • Experience managing a large program, and a deep understanding of process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Ability to partner with the business to creatively solve their needs.
  • Ability to understand complex business problems and identify and interpret business needs.
  • Advanced knowledge of agile development methodologies.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
