About the position

The Manager of Engineering Operations and Data is responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team that includes Technical Publications, Configuration Management, Data Management, Engineering Data Services, and Technical Training. This role involves providing strategic guidance, managing team performance, overseeing supply and demand planning, and ensuring the successful execution of engineering data projects. The manager will also mentor team members and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplined team comprising Engineering Operations, Technical Writing, Technical Training, Configuration Management, Data Management, and Engineering Data Services.
  • Manage team staffing and recruit diverse and effective team members.
  • Oversee supply and demand planning and manage department procedures.
  • Conduct root cause and corrective actions for process failures or adverse outcomes.
  • Prepare, review, and approve bids and proposals for potential new contracts.
  • Manage manpower cost and schedule as control account manager (CAM).
  • Partner with program IPTs to ensure success of programs with Engineering Data content.
  • Support team career development and manage team and individual performance.
  • Coordinate regular department, division, sector, and segment engineering and business reviews.
  • Lead engineering department key performance indicators/metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage capital projects and overhead expense budgeting for the engineering department.
  • Partner with IT on the development of new engineering IT tools.
  • Lead the staffing process for the engineering department and coordinate internal research and development (IRAD).
  • Lead special projects and coordinate data calls and actions across the engineering department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in PowerBI report and dashboard design.
  • Proficient in Atlassian Jira.
  • Expert with Product Lifecycle Management tools (i.e. Teamcenter).
  • Expert in Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
