About the position

KPMG is currently seeking a Manager, Environmental and Geoscience Subject Matter Specialist to join our Audit practice. This role is pivotal in evaluating and providing advice on issues related to the science and engineering aspects of client environmental liabilities and asset retirement obligations. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to coordinate information requests, manage the timing of site tours, and facilitate interviews and discussions. A critical part of the role involves reviewing available information for specific locations selected for assessment, which includes analyzing proposed remediation technology, regulatory directives, and estimated costs for remediation efforts. In addition to these responsibilities, the Manager will collaborate with the engagement team manager and/or Partner to plan the budget, timing, and deliverables for each engagement. This includes reviewing regulatory authority databases to ensure the completeness of the client-provided scope of activity for each location. Ongoing support to engagement teams is essential, often requiring conferring with managers and partners about specific issues or questions that arise throughout the engagement process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental remediation and reclamation, particularly concerning soil and groundwater issues, and will possess knowledge of air pollution issues. This role requires a minimum of ten years of recent work experience in the field, along with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
