About the position

The Internal Communications Manager at Americold is a pivotal role responsible for enhancing employee engagement and organizational efficiency through effective global internal communications. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Communications & PR and collaborates with various stakeholders, including executives, to craft compelling narratives and presentations. The manager will develop internal stakeholder communications across multiple channels for Americold's global functions, including HR, IT, and Finance. The role involves designing and executing comprehensive communication strategies for various business initiatives aimed at informing associates and driving engagement. The Internal Communications Manager will act as a consultant to senior leaders and business partners, proactively developing internal communications that align with strategic business objectives. This includes identifying appropriate audiences, channels, messages, and timelines for effective communication. Additionally, the manager will create materials for a wide range of internal communication channels, such as digital signage, posters, video scripts, email communications, town hall meetings, and manager talking points. The focus will be on addressing the unique needs of different business functions and geographies while adhering to brand guidelines. A strong understanding of internal audiences is essential to ensure that communication strategies effectively reach all employee populations, including leaders, hourly warehouse associates, and international associates. The role also encompasses managing Americold's corporate philanthropic initiatives and programs, planning and leading internal company-sponsored events, and monitoring the effectiveness of internal communication channels. The Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for writing clearly and informatively, editing work for spelling and grammar, and adapting writing styles to meet various needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute global internal communication strategies to enhance employee engagement.
  • Create compelling narratives and presentations for various stakeholders, including executives.
  • Design materials for internal communication channels such as digital signage, posters, and email communications.
  • Consult with senior leaders to develop internal communications that align with strategic business objectives.
  • Manage corporate philanthropic initiatives and programs.
  • Plan and lead internal company-sponsored events.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of internal communication channels.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in internal communications programs and organizational development initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, organizational readiness, business management, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Experience communicating with a non-desk workforce, such as warehouse or factory employees.
  • Experience in strategic/change management communications is preferred.
