About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Manager of IT in Data Management Development to oversee and direct the day-to-day operations of the core data development team within the Enterprise Data / Analytics department. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5 years of relevant experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) required.
  • Understanding of data governance principles, data quality standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) required.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse design, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend) required.
  • Proficiency in languages commonly used in data development, such as SQL, Python, R, and Java required.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior team members, fostering their growth and development required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address data-related challenges and issues required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders required.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of data professionals, providing direction and support required.
  • Skill in planning, executing, and monitoring data development projects to ensure timely delivery required.
  • Epic Caboodle Developer Certification within 1 year of hire required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct the day-to-day operations of the core data development team in Enterprise Data / Analytics.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities related to specific information systems and services.
  • Employ technical and administrative expertise in the development of specifications for information systems and services.
  • Analyze operational aspects of assigned areas and prepare activity/progress reports and recommendations for improvements.
  • Organize, direct, and supervise activities for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Hire and manage all aspects of performance and initiate personnel actions.
  • Plan and implement staff training programs.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and remediation of technology incidents including hardware, software, systems, and information security problems.
  • Collaborate with and advise user departments regarding the feasibility of systems and procedures.
  • Maintain responsibility for the 24-hour uninterrupted operation of the University information systems and services.
  • Keep abreast of trends and technical developments in the field through self-study and participation in job-related seminars, courses, or conferences.
